NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (the Department) has concluded that the FVF Chenega and Fairweather are excess to its present and future transportation needs. Consequently, the Department is exercising its authority under AS 19.05.040(8) to dispose of this property.
It is the goal of the Department to dispose of the vessels to the highest bidders, “AS-IS, WHERE-IS”, by this publicly advertised Sealed Bid Sale. The Sealed Bid Sale is being advertised to allow interested parties opportunity to visit and inspect the vessels.
The FVF Chenega and Fairweather are state ferry vessels operated and maintained by the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS), a division of the Department. The vessels served various routes across Alaska primarily in Southeast and South Central Alaska. The vessels are currently pier-side at a mooring facility located in Ward Cove, Ketchikan, Alaska.
