The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to modify Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW1A007-26, for the Matanuska Susitna Borough, to include the Cell 4 Expansion area.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Cell 4 Expansion covers 4.15 acres in area, and is located northeast of existing Cell 4. Part of the expansion area “piggybacks” existing Cell 2A. The expansion cell was constructed as a lined cell with gas and leachate collection systems. Municipal solid waste will be placed, compacted and covered in the expansion area, similar to Cells 2A and 4. The expansion will add approximately 354,388 cubic yards (equating to approximately three additional years of airspace), and will square off the Cell 4 boundary for more efficient landfill operations.
