State-owned tidelands along Gastineau Channel near Thane Road in Juneau, beginning at the edge of lands conveyed to the City and Borough of Juneau (ADL 24369) at approximately 58.2798°N, 134.3671°W and ending near AJ Industries conveyed land (ADL 18548) at approximately 58.2666°N, 134.3405°W.

Approximately five acres of state-owned tidelands in:

NE1/4 NW1/4 Section 31, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

SE1/4 NW1/4 Section 31, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

SW1/4 NE1/4 Section 31, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

SE1/4 NE1/4 Section 31, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

NE1/4 SE1/4 Section 31, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

NW1/4 SW1/4 Section 32, Township 41 South, Range 68 East, Copper River Meridian,

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

AEL&P (applicant) is requesting a public easement for utility poles and guy wires below mean high water (MHW) along Gastineau Channel in Thane. The requested easement (approximately 30 feet wide and 1.35 miles long) will occupy an area of approximately five acres. The utility poles are already in place as part of a 2008 upgrade to the utility lines in the area. While the application is from 2008, it has been reviewed and updated by the applicant in 2026 and is therefore still valid.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

            Start: October 23, 2026

            End: October 22, 2051

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: November 23, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must emailed to the adjudicator below or received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at Southeast Regional Land Office, PO Box 111020, Juneau, Alaska 99811 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above.
