The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas (Division) received a Private Non-Exclusive Easement application on November 13, 2025, from Hilcorp Alaska, LLC (Hilcorp) requesting an Alaska Statute 38.05.850 Easement for six wellbores to be drilled from S Pad in Milne Point Unit (MPU) that would cross the unit boundary and traverse through a portion of the Kuparuk River Unit (KRU) and Prudhoe Bay Unit (PBU) before returning to the MPU. The proposed project will be adjudicated under AS 38.05 and 11 AAC 83.346. The Division provides public notice and an opportunity to comment.
Applicant: Hilcorp (see application for contact information)
Project ID: ADL 422749
Location: MPU S Pad (see application for MTRS)
Project Description:
The proposed subsurface easement would be located on the North Slope within KRU and PBU on the oil and gas lease ADL 25637. The wellbore would originate and terminate in MPU with a portion of the wellbore traversing ADL 25637 within KRU and PBU. An easement is required to authorize the KRU and PBU portion of the wellbore because Hilcorp is not the lessee of ADL 25637. The subsurface easement would encompass 67 acres of non-Hilcorp unitized subsurface in KRU and PBU and no hydrocarbons would be produced from KRU or PBU leases.
The application package is available for review at the Division’s Permitting Section, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 1100, Anchorage, AK 99501, or online at http://dog.dnr.alaska.gov/Newsroom.
