Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: CHUGACH REGIONAL RESOURCES COMMISSION

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35599

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: In the southern portion of Kasitsna Bay, on the eastern side of Cook Inlet

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 19, Township 8 South, Range 13 West, Seward Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: A 1-year Land Use Permit for a 200-foot kelp array for research purposes within Kasitsna Bay to study meiospore seeding techniques from October 2025 through June 2026. The total footprint including (4) anchors would be a total of 8 acres.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: October 1, 2025
End: June 30, 2026

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: July 24, 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
