Turnagain Marine Construction
Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Turnagain Marine Construction
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35471
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
State-owned submerged and tideland on the southwestern shore of Douglas Island in Stephens Passage, approximately 58.290 N, 134.678 W.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Approximately 7.48 acres of state-owned submerged and tideland in Sections 30, 29, and Section 32, Township 41 South, Range 66 East, Copper River Meridian.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
Turnagain Marine Construction (“the applicant”) is requesting a five-month Land Use Permit to use approximately 7.48 acres of state-owned tide and submerged land for the moorage of one commercial use barge (185 feet by 50 feet) as part of a generally allowed use geotechnical study. The barge will be secured using four 4,500-pound navy anchors.

End: October 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Ave./PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
