The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water, Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO) is providing this notice as a courtesy to the public. Mt. Alyeska Ski Resort Limited Partnership (Alyeska), operating the State land lease serialized as ADL 226089, will proceed with additional parking development within their existing lease footprint located in Girdwood, Alaska. The development site is further described as being located within Sections 9 and 10, Township 10 North, Range 2 East, Seward Meridian, Alaska.
The parking development was proposed as part of Alyeska’s 2008 Ski Area Master Plan, which was public noticed in February and March 2009 and approved on April 1, 2009, in accordance with the terms of the 55-year lease agreement. This development is proposed to take place in 2025.
The goal of this parking area is to increase overall skier parking and accommodate future growth. The development will occupy approximately 3.4 acres and will accommodate an estimated 304 vehicles. The parking development will be paved, lighted, and installed with a drainage system. An approved MOA Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), appropriate for the development, will be required. Additionally, Alyeska will be required to comply with Division of Forestry & Fire Protection requirements regarding tree removal at the site. Furthermore, the development will not impact the existing Winner Creek Trail system.
