Request for Information: K-3 Summer Tutoring

Background and Project Information:
Alaska Reads’ Act was implemented on July 1, 2023. It requires districts to provide 20 hours of targeted interventions in the summer for third grade students who have a reading deficiency. The state of Alaska is seeking information for those who can:
- provide tutors and programs/materials (Must align with the Science of Reading)
- Or provide instructional coaches to support schools with interventions that aligns with the Science of Reading
These services consist of, but not limited to:
Tutors:
- Provide virtual tutors who can provide 20 hours of targeted instruction in a one to two-week period
- Provide intervention materials for the targeted instruction
- Provide resources for parents to support reading at home
- Create a positive working relationship with parents and the school
- Provide the tutoring through Zoom
- Progress monitor
Instructional Coaching:
- Provide a virtual coaching model to support teachers provided by the school/district
- Provide virtual professional development
- Provide intervention materials for the targeted instruction
- Provide resources for parents to support reading at home
