Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Plan Performance Indicators Draft

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Plan Performance Indicators Draft

Available for Public Comment:

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development is seeking public input on Alaska's 2024 - 2027 four-year Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) performance indicators. As mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor, states are required to submit state plans every four years, with updates every two years. This revision pertains to Program Year (PY) 2024 – PY 2027.

The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act allocates funding for state and local workforce initiatives and job training services tailored to adults and youth. WIOA was designed to empower states with increased flexibility in fostering collaboration across systems to effectively address the employment and skill needs of employees, job seekers, and businesses. Emphasizing sector partnerships, career pathways, cross-program data and measurement, and job-driven investments, WIOA underscores a strategic approach to workforce development. Alaska's state plan presents an opportunity to showcase how WIOA, alongside other state and federal programs, establishes a robust workforce development system reflective of Alaskans' aspirations and needs.
