Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Alaska Renewables, LLC
PROJECT NAME: LAS 34647
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The project is located approximately 18 to 25 miles WNW of Fairbanks.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: The project is located within portions of Sections 1, 12, and 13, Township 1 South, Range 6 West, Fairbanks Meridian and Sections 5 and 6, Township 1 South, Range 5 West, Fairbanks Meridian and Sections 10, 11, 15, 16, 21, 28, 29, 31 and 32 Township 1 North, Range 5 West, Fairbanks Meridian and Sections 12 and 13, Township 1 South, Range 6 West, Fairbanks Meridian.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Alaska Renewables is applying to clear brush and vegetation for an offroad vehicle trail along the ridgeline to the southwest of Murphy Dome Extension Road. The trail will be cleared to a width of 12 feet for a total length of 11.7 miles. The trail will be utilized to transport personnel and equipment to conduct environmental, geotechnical, cultural, and meteorological studies to support the proposed Shovel Creek Wind Project. Alaska Renewables is additionally applying to place monitoring equipment along the trail and to deploy up to two temporary meteorological towers that are 50-110 meters in height, as well as an associated power supply and ground-based Lidar system to measure wind speeds. Each tower would be placed within a 2-acre cleared area.
REQUESTED TERM: The applicant is requesting a multi-year permit beginning July 2023 and ending July 2028.

The public is invited to comment on this activity.
