The Department of Education and Early Development, Division of Finance and Support Services, is soliciting proposals for development of a database tool to forecast the need for school capital funding in Alaska.
The State of Alaska, Department of Education & Early Development (DEED) desires to put in place a capital funding forecasting tool for K-12 schools, statewide. Alaska Statute 14.11.035 tasks DEED with the ability to analyze the effectiveness of the school construction and major maintenance grants, state aid for school construction and major maintenance in regional educational attendance areas, and state aid for the cost of school construction debt . . . including an analysis of funding sources and the short-term and long-term fiscal effects of the funding on the state. To achieve this, the department envisions the development of both an underlying database and an analytical user interface (UI), a dashboard, where funding parameters can be inter-related and adjusted to produce a variety of funding scenarios that would meet the projected need for school capital funding in the state.
