Alaska Hatchery Research Project (AHRP) Informational Meeting
The Alaska Hatchery Research Project (AHRP) is holding an informational meeting in the Birch/Willow Room in the Hilton Hotel (500 West 3rd Ave) in Anchorage. The meeting will be held from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm on Friday, March 6, 2020. The public is welcome to attend. Participation via phone or internet is not available.
The AHRP is a long-term research project designed to provide information on the interaction of wild and hatchery pink and chum salmon in Prince William Sound and Southeast Alaska. The research is intended to address the following questions:
- What is the genetic stock structure of pink and chum salmon in each region?
- What is the extent and annual variability in straying of hatchery pink salmon in Prince William Sound and chum salmon in Prince William Sound and Southeast Alaska?
- What is the impact on fitness (productivity) of wild pink and chum salmon stocks due to straying of hatchery pink and chum salmon?
The purpose of this meeting is to provide an update on project research completed to date as well as an update on ongoing and planned AHRP work.
