Terra-Aleutian Fiber Optic Cable Easement

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: GCI Communication Corporation
PROJECT NAME: ADL 233422
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Kodiak and Aleutian Islands
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: The proposed easement will span approximately 428 discontiguous miles on state-owned, DMLW-managed tide and submerged lands as shown in attachments A and B.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant has requested that DMLW issue an easement on state owned tide and submerged lands. The purpose of the easement is to authorize the installation and operation of fiber optic cable to provide service to Larsen Bay on Kodiak Island, and several communities within the Aleutian Islands. The requested easement will be approximately 428 miles in length, and 30 feet in width. The final easement length and area will be determined subsequent to DMLW’s receipt of an as-built record of survey. The easement, if approved, may differ from that described herein.

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 900C, Anchorage, Alaska, 99501 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
