Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance (EFLEA) Program

The Alaska Department of Public Safety seeks proposals from eligible applicants for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, FFY 2019 Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance (EFLEA) Program.

Eligible applicants include Alaska Native organizations, Alaska Native villages, and federally recognized Indian tribes.   Amended:  Eligible applicants also include municipal governments in communities with a population of less than 1,000 that are within 1) the unorganized borough, or 2) a borough, if the community is not connected by road to Anchorage or Fairbanks.

EFLEA grant funds are available to address the critical public safety infrastructure needs in rural Alaska for prefabricated office space and holding cell facilities and for repair and renovation of existing facilities with the goal of ensuring safe and habitable space to support law enforcement services within Alaska’s rural communities.

The total amount of EFLEA funds available is approximately $6 million.

All awards are subject to availability of appropriated funds and to any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law.
