The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas (Division) received a Miscellaneous Land Use Permit application on October 5, 2026, from SAExploration Seismic Services (US), LLC (SAE) requesting to conduct a three dimensional (3D) seismic survey on the North Slope. The proposed project will be adjudicated under AS 38.05 and 11 AAC 83.346. The Division provides public notice and an opportunity to comment.

Project Description:

The proposed project area encompasses approximately 205.31 square miles of State-owned, private-owned, and Kuukpik lands. The permit would only authorize activity on State lands. The proposed seismic operations would be conducted using approximately 12 rubber tracked vibrators and two Univibes for source and 40,000 nodal autonomous recording channels for receivers. The purpose of this project is to acquire seismic data to inform oil exploration and development activities. The project is expected to begin January 2027, or upon tundra travel opening, and continue until completed or when conditions no longer support travel.
