The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve Cordova Electric Cooperative, Inc’s application’s application for Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ0221MSS07 for the Orca Power Plant.

Application: Cordova Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEC) applied for a minor permit under 18 AAC 50.508(6) to revise and rescind conditions in a Title I permit.
Activity: The Orca Power Plant provides electrical power and services to private, municipal, and industrial customers in the City of Cordova, Alaska.
Emissions: Change in emissions at the stationary source are as follows: no change to Nitrogen Oxides, Carbon Monoxide, and Sulfur Dioxide, an increase of 0.49 tons of Particulate Matter, and an increase of 3.11 tons of Volatile Organic Compounds. The total annual potential emissions of regulated air pollutants, other than greenhouse gases, are 325.52 tons.
ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.
