The 30-day public comment period opens October 1, 2026 for MatSu Valley Planning for Transportation’s MatSu 2050. MatSu 2050, the area’s first Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), is the Mat-Su Valley's 20+ year roadmap for building a safe, connected, and thriving transportation future through 2050. This long-range transportation plan guides federal transportation investments based on community needs and realistic funding.
The Mat-Su has grown more than 20% since 2010, making us Alaska's fastest-growing region. MatSu 2050 identifies the region’s transportation goals, priorities, and projects for the future. Having an adopted MTP unlocks federal funding. Projects must be included in the MTP to receive federal dollars. Without this plan, we lose access to millions for road improvements, safety upgrades, and infrastructure. The MTP offers the Mat-Su local control over federal investments, ensuring projects match the needs of our growing community.
