BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Department of Family and Community Services proposes to change regulations on the Mental Health Treatment Assistance Program.
Summary of proposed changes: The Department of Family and Community Services proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 7 of the Alaska Administrative Code, including the following:
- 7 AAC 72.500 is proposed to be repealed. The intended effect of this repeal is to make changes to the Mental Heath Treatment Assistance Program.
- 7 AAC 72.510 is proposed to be repealed and incorporated in 7 AAC 72.520.
- 7 AAC 72.520 is proposed to be repealed and readopted. The intended effect of this readoption is to make changes to provisions regarding services available for financial assistance.
- 7 AAC 72.530 is proposed to be amended. The intended effect of this amendment is to make changes to the application for financial assistance.
- 7 AAC 72.540 is proposed to amended. The intended effect of this amendment is to make changes to the decision regarding eligibility for financial assistance.
- 7 AAC 72.900 is proposed to be amended. The intended effect of this amendment to include additional definitions of terms in the above amendments.
Written comments: You may comment on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, by submitting written comments to SOA/DFCS/Commissioner’s Office PO Box 112600 Juneau, AK 99811. Additionally, the Department of Family and Community services will accept comments by electronic mail at fcs.regulations@alaska.gov.
Written comment deadline: The written comments must be received no later than 5:00 PM on October 30, 2026.
Questions: You may submit written questions relevant to the proposed action via mail SOA/DFCS/Commissioner’s Office PO Box 112600 Juneau, AK 99811 or via email fcs.regulations@alaska.gov. The questions must be received at least 10 days before the end of the public comment period. DFCS will aggregate its response to substantially similar questions and make the questions and responses available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System and agency website.

Final version of regulations: After the public comment period ends, the Department of Family and Community Services will either adopt the proposed regulation changes or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action. The language of the final regulation may be different from that of the proposed regulation.
