Draft Southeast Alaska Transportation Plan Update Public Comment Period

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has released the draft Southeast Alaska Transportation Plan (SEATP) Update to gather public feedback. The draft SEATP and appendices are available on the project website at www.SoutheastAlaskaTransportationPlan.com.

Comments on the draft SEATP are due by October 19, 2026.

Project Overview
DOT&PF is updating the SEATP to guide transportation improvements over the next 20 years. The plan:
• Considers both intercommunity travel and local transportation needs
• Addresses all modes of transportation, including roads, ferries, airports, trails, and marine facilities
• Identifies regional priorities and potential projects to meet those needs
• Helps inform the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the Aviation Improvement Program (AIP)
• Covers the Southeast Alaska planning area, which is characterized by unique geography and a reliance on diverse transportation modes

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated April 13, 2023, and executed by FHWA and DOT&PF.
