Brief Description of Proposed Project:
The Louden Tribe proposes to repair and upgrade the existing walking and biking trail between the Community Hall and the Baseball Field in Galena, Alaska. The project will improve the existing trail surface and address areas that need repair to provide a safer and more durable route for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other community users. If funding permits, the project will also include a small research and design component to evaluate trail construction methods suitable for Galena's wet and lowland conditions. This may include a small pilot section of approximately 100 feet or less to test selected construction techniques and materials under local conditions. The information gained from this work will help guide future trial improvements and the potential construction of additional trail sections.
