The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) announces that Amendment No. 6 to the 2024–2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) was approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on September 16, 2026.

Amendment No. 6 includes nine targeted changes to Alaska’s federally funded surface transportation program, including changes that advance the Alaska Highway Milepost 1380 Johnson River Bridge Replacement, Sterling Highway Milepost 82.5–94 Safety Corridor Improvements, and King Cove to Cold Bay Road projects.

Amendment No. 6 was released for public review on July 2, 2026, followed by a 30-day public comment period. DOT&PF reviewed comments received, made appropriate revisions, and submitted the final amendment to FHWA and FTA on August 7, 2026.
