Notice of Application for State Air Quality Permit AQ1564MSS04, Oil Search Alaska, LLC, a Subsidiary of Santos Limited, Nanushuk Drillsite B

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve Oil Search (Alaska), LLC’s application for Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ1564MSS04 for the Nanushuk Drillsite B.

Location:        70° 20' 6.938" N, 150° 38' 0.184" W

Activity:          Oil Search (Alaska), LLC applied for a minor permit under 18 AAC 50.508(6) to revise the terms and conditions of a Title I permit. The project is also classified under 18 AAC 50.502(b)(3) for construction, operation, or relocation of a stationary source containing a rock crusher with a rated capacity of 5 tons or greater per hour; and 18 AAC 50.502(c)(2) for construction or relocation of a portable oil and gas operation.

Emissions:      Changes in potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants for the stationary source are as follows: -27.30 tons for Nitrogen Oxides, -30.15 tons for Carbon Monoxide, -4.95 tons for Particulate Matter, -32.08 tons for Sulfur Dioxide, and -54.25 tons for Volatile Organic Compounds. The total annual potential emissions of regulated air pollutants, other than greenhouse gases, are 255.72 tons.

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the preliminary decision within 30 days after the first publication date. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or state law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
