Subject to AS 38.05.080, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:


APPLICANT: Great Northwest Inc.


PROJECT NAME: LAS 36239


GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: 
Little Gerstle River Pit, approximately Milepost 1389 of the Alaska Highway. See attached application.


LEGAL DESCRIPTION: 
Section 15, Township 13 South, Range 15 East, Fairbanks Meridian


REQUESTED ACTIVITY: 
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW), Northern Region Land Office (NRO), has received a Land Use Permit (LUP) application from Great Northwest Inc. for the use of approximately 10 acres of state land within the Little Gerstle River Pit. The site would be used as a contractor camp and field office in support of the Johnson River Bridge Replacement project and subsequent Gerstle River Bridge Replacement project. Proposed improvements include RV parking for up to 60 workers, mobile field offices, a water well and septic system, vehicle and equipment parking, and fuel storage.


REQUESTED TERM: 5 Years


DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: Public comments are due by September 23, 2026.


The public is invited to comment on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK  99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
