Manley Hot Springs Slough Bridge #0272 Replacement

The Manley Village Council (MVC) in cooperation with the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) proposes to replace the Manley Hot Springs Slough Bridge #0272 located in Manley Hot Springs, Alaska. MVC sponsored and secured Federal Tribal Transportation Bridge Program Funds to replace the existing Manley Hot Springs Slough Bridge.

The project proposes replacing the existing bridge. The new bridge will be a 2-span concrete decked steel girder bridge with one pier located in the middle of the slough. The bridge will have two 12-foot vehicle lanes, 2-foot shoulders, and an 8-foot-wide dedicated pedestrian path. The new bridge will be constructed along the existing road alignment. Additional work activities include drainage improvements including reestablishing ditches and replacing failing, damaged, and/or undersized culverts, installation of new guardrail and signs, installation of a retaining wall alongside the road embankment on the south side of the slough, utility relocations, vegetation clearing, and right-of-way (ROW) acquisition. Portions of the existing Manley Hot Springs Slough Bridge #0272 are within the base floodplain of Manley Slough in the form of two piers.

The Tofty Quarry (MS 680-119-2) has been identified as a material source for the project.

We are currently working on the design, engineering, and environmental studies, as well as soliciting public comments. Construction is currently expected in the 2028 summer season.

DOT&PF requests information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and floodplain encroachment. The following Executive Orders (EO) apply:
