NOTICE OF INTENT TO BEGIN ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is soliciting comments and information on a proposal to rehabilitate the existing Taxiway (TW) R South pavement from TW P to TW K and TW L pavement from TW R to Taxilane (TL) E, improve airfield lighting and rehabilitate the taxiway storm drainage system at the Ted Steven’s Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska.

The proposed project includes the following activities:

•      Rehabilitate and replace the pavement on TW R South from TW P to TW K
•      Rehabilitate and replace the pavement on a portion of TW L from TW R to TL E
•      Remove, replace, and repair pavement as needed
•      Replace lighting, marking, and signs
•      Remove, replace, and modify existing storm drainage as needed
•      Adjust and relocate utilities as needed
•      Evaluate taxiway safety area

This proposed project will comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; Executive Orders: 11990 (Wetlands Protection), 11988 (Floodplain Protection), 11593 (Historic Preservation), 13084 (Consultation and Coordination with Indian Tribal Governments), the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and U.S. DOT Act Section 4(f).

Construction for the proposed project is anticipated to begin in summer 2027. To ensure that all possible factors are considered, please provide written comments to the following address by September 24, 2026.
