Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: KWH Constructors, Inc.
PROJECT NAME: LAS 36106
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Designated material site (ADL 419494/DOT MS 52-2-051-2), located at milepost 230 of the Parks Highway, also known as the McKinley Village Pit.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Within Section 36 of Township 14 South, Range 7 West, Fairbanks Meridian. Further defined as Tract D of ASLS 83-194, recorded as Plat no. 85-11, Nenana Recording District on May 3, 1985. The requested activity would utilize approximately 1 acre of the 13.2-acre material site.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: KWH Constructors, Inc., a subcontractor of Granite Construction Company, requests the use of the above-mentioned material site as a construction support site for the Polychrome Pass Bridge project in Denali National Park. The site would be utilized as a staging and storage yard for approximately 600,000 pounds of structural steel.
Initial mobilization would include delivery of the structural steel to the site via approximately 25 to 30 truckloads. Equipment utilized during this phase will be limited to standard transport and handling equipment, including semi-trucks and trailers, one to two forklifts, and potentially a small crane. No permanent or temporary structures, utilities, or improvements are proposed in association with this use. Temporary portable sanitation units may be present during active operations. General public access to the site would be restricted during project operations. Entry would still be given to authorized users.
