The Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education is holding an optional Council training on Tuesday, June 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will focus on Alaska’s Developmental Disabilities Shared Vision. This training will be led primarily by Council Co-Chair Corey Gilmore, who will help guide us through the history, importance, and future of the Shared Vision work in Alaska.
This training is intended to help reorient members around the Shared Vision and how it connects to the Council’s work and our upcoming 2027–2031 Five-Year Plan. As we continue building our next plan, the Shared Vision will serve as an important guiding framework for our goals and priorities.
Topics will include:
- History and background of the Alaska Shared Vision
- How the Shared Vision has shaped systems and advocacy work in Alaska
- Current efforts and priorities
- Future directions and opportunities
- How the Shared Vision is reflected in our next Five-Year Plan
