Haines State Forest Resource Management Area Management Plan Public Review Draft released – Public meetings scheduled

The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DFFP) invites public review of the draft Haines State Forest (HSF) Resource Management Area (RMA) Management Plan (MP). The management plan includes summary descriptions of the HSFRMA land base and guidelines for management of natural resources within the HSFRMA boundary under legislatively mandated principles of sustained yield and multiple use. Following the public review period, which may result in changes to the draft plan, DFFP intends to adopt the HSFRMA management plan. This plan includes a Land Classification Order (SE-24-001) that classifies state owned land within the HSFRMA boundary.

A draft of the management plan is available online at  https://forestry.alaska.gov/HSFamendment/. Printed copies of the plan may be coordinated upon request.

DFFP encourages your submission of written comments. To be considered, comments related to the public review draft of the HSFRMA management plan must be received by Friday, June 5, 2026, by mail or email. Comments can be sent to:
