Notice of Public Open House-Nordale Road/Peede Road Intersection Improvements

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is initiating a project funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) at the intersection of Nordale Road and Peede Road in North Pole, Alaska. The objective of the project is to improve safety at the intersection and reduce vehicular crashes. Nordale Road serves as the only connection across the Chena River from Badger Road to Chena Hot Springs Road. Peede Road is a commonly used shortcut from Badger Road to Nordale Road and the two-way stop-controlled intersection has accumulated a history of vehicle crashes.

All public comments received will be recorded, transcribed, become part of the public record and may be subject to freedom of information act requests.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated April 13, 2023, and executed by FHWA and DOT&PF.
