NOTICE OF PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF AN
ALASKA POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (APDES)
GENERAL PERMIT TO DISCHARGE TO WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES
Notice Start Date: March 27, 2026 Expiration Date: April 6, 2026
Following the close of a 30-day public notice period, DEC has prepared an APDES proposed final general permit. Prior to making the final decision to issue the general permit, DEC invites you to view the proposed final general permit and associated documents. Comments from the public were accepted during the Public Notice period of November 9, 2025 through December 11, 2025 and will not be accepted during this review period. You can access the proposed final general permit and associated documents at DEC’s Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program website (https://dec.alaska.gov/water/wastewater/).

Permit: AKR060000 – Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP)
This permit regulates stormwater discharges of pollutants from 29 industrial sectors to surface waters. It sets conditions to protect water quality and human health by establishing control measures and best management practices for pollutant discharge from specific industrial activities.
Tentative Determination: DEC has tentatively determined to reissue the wastewater discharge permit.
Administrative Record: The APDES draft permit, fact sheet, and associated documents are available for public review at the DEC office located Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Soldotna, and Wasilla. Please contact the office of your choice to arrange for hard copies of the documents to be available for your review.
