Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO) has received an application for the following public access easement:

APPLICANT: Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF)

PROJECT NAME: ADL 234781

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Sterling, Alaska - Sterling Highway Mile Post 85

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 10 of Township 5 North, Range 9 West, Seward Meridian, AK

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant has requested issuance of a public access easement to widen the footprint outside of the existing right-of-way for the Sterling Highway near DOT mile post 85. The purpose of the proposed easement is to reconstruct the highway with a center divide and a separate pathway. The proposed easement is approximately 2,593 feet in length, generally 75 feet in width, occupying approximately 184,839 square feet. The easement, if approved, may differ from that described herein.

REQUESTED TERM: Indefinite

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: March 10, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK, 99501 on or before the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
