The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is hosting the second open house for the King Salmon Airport (AKN) Master Plan Update. This meeting is a chance to meet the project team, ask questions, and review project alternatives for possible inclusion in the Plan. The doors will open at 12-noon for light snacks and refreshments, and the presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. A virtual meeting link will be provided on the project website for those unable to attend in person.
This project involves creating an updated master plan, airport layout plan, aeronautical survey, and related services to plan for AKN’s next 20 years. The process follows FAA AC 150/5070-6B Airport Master Plans guidance, which allow for a tailored examination of the airport and its issues. The plan will detail development and improvements recommended for AKN, which functions as a regional hub, floatplane base, and military training airport.
Comments on the project can be shared during the public meeting or submitted in writing and emailed to kingsalmonairport@dowl.com.
