The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued four draft Mineral Closing Orders (MOs) for public review and comment. These MOs would close certain lands to mineral entry along the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Right-of-Way as described by MOs 1331, 1332, 1333, and 1334. The draft Administrative Order and draft MOs are attached below.
Under AS 38.05.185 and AS 38.05.300, the Department of Natural Resources may close lands to mineral entry where current and proposed land uses are determined to be incompatible with mining activity. Once approved, these MOs will close state-owned lands and will close state-selected lands currently within Public Land Order 5150 upon conveyance to the state.
Written comments are encouraged during this public comment period. Comments on the draft MOs must be received in writing no later than Monday, March 23, 2026, by mail or email to the addresses listed below:
