DOT&PF Notice to Begin Construction & Temporary Delays: Skagway Ferry Terminal: Anchor Chain Replacement

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to replace the deteriorated sections of anchor chain at 19 locations along the concrete float at the Skagway Ferry Terminal in Skagway, Alaska.

The project is anticipated to occur as early as late spring 2026. During construction there may be scheduled changes to the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) ferry service. Potential closure to the AMHS ferry facility could occur during construction for up to one week.

The selected construction contractor or DOT&PF would put out a schedule for construction to the community of Skagway once the project has been awarded.
