Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc. (GVEA) filed TA401-13, seeking Commission approval of Amendment No. 1 to the Amended and Restated Power Purchase Agreement (Amendment No. 1) between GVEA and Aurora Energy, LLC (Aurora). GVEA included a Motion for Expedited Consideration, and requests the Commission approve Amendment No. 1 on or before February 23, 2026, with an early effective date of March 1, 2026.
Under Amendment No. 1, Aurora will make reasonable efforts to complete repairs to Chena Unit 5 and Boiler #1 of the Chena Power Plant thereby allowing it to produce the output of 150,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) required by the Amended and Restated Power Purchase Agreement by December 31, 2026, and add an estimated additional 5,000 - 10,000 MWh annually beginning in 2027. Additionally, Amendment No. 1 sets a new base rate for 2026 of $115.23/MWh, an increase from the current 2026 rate of $94.23/MWh. The rate will increase by 2.8 percent annually for the remaining term of the Amended and Restated Power Purchase Agreement.
