Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: NICHOLAS LONG
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35789
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Cape Yakataga is located roughly 90 miles southeast of Cordova.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 24, Township 21 South, Range 17 East, Copper River Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW), has received a Land Use Permit (LUP) application from Nicholas Long, D.B.A. Alaska 66th Parallel Pursuits for the use of state owned uplands in support of seasonal guiding operations. This permit would include one base camp (12'x20') with two associated spike camps, one weatherport storage unit (12'x24'), one pit privy, and the use of 8 off road motorized vehicles over the generally allowed weight limit. Guiding would take place April-June and August-January. The base camp and storage are located on mining lease, ADL 536970. The proposed permit term would be 5 years.

Start: February 28, 2026
End: February 27, 2031

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Avenue/PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
