Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

 

APPLICANT: Yakutat Tlingit Tribe

 

PROJECT NAME: ADL 109491

 

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:

State-owned tidelands in Ankau Saltchucks approximately 3.5 miles west of Yakutat, approximately 59.5427°N, 139.8289°W.

 

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:

Approximately 0.06 acres of state-owned tidelands in W1/2 SE1/4 Section 28, Township 27 South, Range 33 East, Copper River Meridian.

 

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:

The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe (applicant) is requesting an easement to construct a clam garden rock wall in the Ankau Saltchucks. The wall will be approximately 2-4 feet wide, 2-4 feet high, and 700 feet long for a total 0.06 acre more or less. It will be constructed with rocks on site using hand tools. The purpose of the wall is to increase the clam population for community (specifically elder) subsistence harvest.  

 

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

            Start: January 1, 2026

            End: December 31, 2050

 

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: February 21, 2026

 

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must emailed to the adjudicator below or received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at Southeast Regional Land Office, PO Box 111020, Juneau, Alaska 99811 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity.  The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
