Subject to 38.05.020, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Department of Public Safety
PROJECT NAME: Ester Dome Communications Site
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Located at the summit of Ester Dome, accessed by way of Ester Dome Road. The site is located at the end of Ester Dome Road. The elevation at this site is approximately 2360 feet.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: A tract of land located within Section 36, Township 1 North, Range 3 West, Fairbanks Meridian, Alaska being within the Fairbanks Recording District, Fourth Judicial District, State of Alaska and more particularly as follows:
Alaska State Land Survey No. 2001-8, Plat No. 2003-12, containing 1 acre.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), received an application for a Interagency Land Management Agreement from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for an existing telecommunication tower on state-owned, DMLW-managed lands near Ester Dome, Alaska. The purpose of the requested authorization is to allow for the continued maintenance and operation of the telecommunication site.
REQUESTED TERM: 55 years, we are considering a maximum term of 25 years.
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: February 23, 2026
The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
