The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) invites you to attend a Virtual Public Meeting to learn more about the proposed improvements at the Egan Drive and Yandukin Drive intersection in Juneau.

The purpose of this project is to make the Egan and Yandukin intersection safer and easier to use for everyone, including drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. We’re improving traffic flow and adding features that help people move through the area more safely and smoothly, now and in the future.

These improvements address critical safety concerns identified during the Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study completed in 2021, including high crash rates and lack of pedestrian access.

The proposed project will involve constructing a modified partially signalized intersection featuring dual left-turn lanes from Egan Drive, signalized pedestrian crossings, and added pedestrian safety measures at the unsignalized right-turn lanes. In addition, new advanced warning signs with flashing yellow lights will alert drivers that the light is about to turn red, cautioning drivers to begin to slow down. The acceleration lane from Fred Meyer will be retained for safer merging.

The public meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to review project materials, ask questions, and provide input on the proposed improvements. DOT&PF staff and project team members will be available to answer your questions. Materials presented at the meeting will be available on the project website.
