Notice of Utility Tariff Filings
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Alaska Electric Light and Power Company (AEL&P), filed TA540-1, seeking Commission approval of its Amended and Restated Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of Interruptible Energy with Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company (HGCMC), TA541-1, seeking Commission approval of Amendment No. 5 to the Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of Interruptible Energy with Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. (Princess), and TA542-1, seeking Commission approval of Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of Interruptible Energy with Holland America Line N.V. (Holland). AEL&P requested an effective date of February 3, 2026, for TA540-1, and February 6, 2026, for TA541-1 and TA542-1.
With TA540-1, TA541-1, and TA542-1, AEL&P seeks to modify the energy charge calculation methodology provided in the existing special contracts to reflect the average cost of output from all of AEL&P’s hydroelectric resources, not just that of the Lake Dorothy Hydroelectric Project (Lake Dorothy). Using the proposed methodology and data for 2025, AEL&P calculates an energy charge of $0.11250/kWh for HGCMC, Princess, and Holland, an increase from the current energy charge of $0.105951/kWh.
Additionally, with TA540-1 AEL&P seeks to remove provisions that are no longer applicable, such as those pertaining to the period prior to the completion of the construction at Lake Dorothy. The Amended and Restated Agreement for the Sale and Purchase of Interruptible Energy with HGCMC will have a term of five years, with the opportunity for one-year extensions.
This notice may not contain all requested revisions and the Commission may approve a rate or classification which varies from those proposed.
