| The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) invites you to join us for the Safer Seward Highway Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Individual Section 4(f) Evaluation public hearings. These formal public hearings, conducted in accordance with the DOT&PF Environmental Procedures Manual, are being held to consider the economic, social, and environmental effects of the project and its consistency with the goals and objectives of community planning. January 13, 2026 – Girdwood Library January 14, 2026 – Anchorage Loussac Library January 15, 2026 – Valley Bible Chalet 5:00–7:30 p.m. (presentation at 5:45 p.m. and public hearing at 6:15 p.m.) Snacks will be provided. Individual testimony will be limited to 3 minutes, and group or agency testimony will be limited to 5 minutes to ensure everyone has an opportunity to speak. Sign up at the meeting. A court reporter will be available to record comments. Stay tuned for the Draft EA, which will be available for public review December 29, 2025, at safersewardhighway.com. Hard copies are available at the Anchorage Loussac and Girdwood Libraries. The Draft EA evaluates proposed highway safety and mobility improvements between Anchorage and Girdwood. Members of the public are encouraged to review the Draft EA and Draft Individual Section 4(f) Evaluation and provide feedback. This project complies with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Executive Orders 11990 (Wetlands Protection) and 11988 (Floodplain Protection), the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, Section 6(f) of the Land and Water Conservation Act, and U.S. DOT Act Section 4(f).
