SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE
REGULATIONS OF THE ALASKA BOARD OF FISHERIES
This is a SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE modifying the NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES that was published on September 24, 2025, hereby incorporated by reference, concerning proposed regulation changes in Title 5 of the Alaska Administrative Code. This SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE is being issued to notify the public that an additional day has been added to the following two meetings:
Bristol Bay Finfish
January 13-18, 2026
Egan Civic and Convention Center
555 West 5th Avenue, Anchorage
Public comment deadline: December 29, 2025
and
Statewide Finfish and Supplemental Issues
March 17-21, 2026
Egan Civic and Convention Center
555 West 5th Avenue, Anchorage
Public comment deadline: March 2, 2026
Additionally, four proposals have been added to the following meetings:
Proposal 185 would create a Naknek River King Salmon Management Plan. This proposal will be considered at the Bristol Bay Finfish meeting.
Proposal 186 would reduce commercial salmon fishing opportunity with drift gillnet gear in the Central District of the Cook Inlet Area. This proposal will be considered at the Statewide Finfish and Supplemental Issues meeting.
Proposal 187 would close the Tsiu River and all waters within one quarter mile of the Tsiu River and Kaliakh River confluence to commercial fishing for salmon. This proposal will be considered at the Statewide Finfish and Supplemental Issues meeting.
Proposal 188 would allocate 15% of the unharvested Togiak sac roe herring guideline harvest level to the Dutch Harbor food and bait herring fishery. The board will receive public input on this proposal at both the Bristol Bay Finfish and Alaska Peninsula/Aleutian Islands/Chignik Areas Finfish meetings and it will be deliberated at the Alaska Peninsula/Aleutian Islands/Chignik Areas Finfish meeting, February 18-24, 2026, at the Egan Center in Anchorage.

Anyone interested in or affected by subsistence, personal use, commercial fishing, sport, guided sport, or aquatic plant regulations are hereby informed that the Board of Fisheries may consider any or all of the subject areas covered by this notice. Under AS 44.62.200(b), the board may review the full range of activities appropriate to any of the subjects listed in this notice. The board may make changes to the subsistence, personal use, sport, guided sport or commercial fishing regulations as may be required to ensure the subsistence priority in AS 16.05.258. On its own motion, after the public hearing, the board may adopt, amend, reject, supplement, or take no action on these subjects without further notice. In addition, the board may adopt other regulations necessary to implement, administer, or enforce the regulations adopted. THE BOARD IS NOT LIMITED BY THE SPECIFIC LANGUAGE OR CONFINES OF THE ACTUAL PROPOSALS THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED BY THE PUBLIC OR ADF&G. The language of the final regulations may be different from that of the proposed regulations. YOU SHOULD COMMENT DURING THE TIME ALLOWED IF YOUR INTERESTS COULD BE AFFECTED.
