NOTICE OF WATER RIGHT APPLICATION

Pursuant to AS 46.15 and rules and regulations promulgated thereunder, notice is hereby given that a Water Rights application has been received from Sundance Mining Group, P.O. Box 389, Klawock, Alaska 99925 for year-round withdrawals of up to 1,000 gallons per minute from underground mine seepage for the purpose of mining and milling located within US Mineral Survey 1527A, Federal Mining Claims RDCJF 1 through 40 and CJ 43, 48, 53, 58, 63-65, 68, and 69, and Upland Mining Lease ADL 548341 located within portions of: Sections 5 through 7, Township 74 South, Range 84 East, Copper River Meridian; Section 31, Township 73 South, Range 84 East, Copper River Meridian; and Section 36, Township 73 South, Range 83 East, Copper River Meridian.

The Water Resources Section must receive comments in writing by 5:00 p.m. February 17, 2026 at the above address to be considered. If issued, a permit may be extended for good cause shown, pursuant to AS 46.15.110 and 11 AAC 93.120(f), without additional public notice.
Per AS 46.15.133 (a); within 15 days of publication or service of notice, persons may file with the director written objections, stating the name and address of the objector, and any facts tending to show that rights of the objector or the public interest would be adversely affected by the proposed appropriation. Objections must be submitted in writing and may be mailed or hand-delivered to the DNR Commissioner’s Office, 550 W. 7th Avenue, Suite 1400, Anchorage, Alaska, 99501; faxed to (907)-269-8918; or sent by electronic mail to dnr.appeals@alaska.gov.
