The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve the application for Air Quality Control Operating Permit AQ0238TVP05 for Fort Greely Real Estate under Alaska Statute 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50.

Application:
As required by 18 AAC 50, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Greely applied for a renewal operating permit for Fort Greely Real Estate, and ADEC received the application on March 6, 2025. This public notice is for the draft operating permit only.
Activity:
Fort Greely Real Estate supports military training and related maintenance activities.
Emissions:
The potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants at Fort Greely Real Estate are: 7.3 tons of nitrogen oxides, 17.5 tons of carbon monoxide, 7.8 tons of particulate matter, 20.4 tons of sulfur dioxide, 1.8 tons of volatile organic compounds, 10,172 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, and 1.1 tons of hazardous air pollutants (HAP). The total annual potential emissions of regulated air pollutants, other than greenhouse gases, is 54.8 tons per year.
ADEC Preliminary Review:
Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for Fort Greely Real Estate under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents, as long as they are received by the close of the public comment period. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or state law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period. Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists.
