Recreational Trails Program - FY2026 Application round

The Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation (DPOR) announced an application round for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) in FY2026. Please visit our website at http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/grants/trails.htm for more information.

The DPOR administers Alaska's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) RTP grant. The DPOR offers this competitive, reimbursable, matching trail grant for maintaining public recreational trails and related facilities, and for safety and educational projects.

The RTP grant program provides up to 90% reimbursement of eligible costs for the entire project cost; grantees are responsible for 10% of the entire project cost.

For the upcoming 2026 RTP cycle, eligible applicants are restricted to projects on State Park land. Nonprofit organizations interested in collaborating with Alaska State Parks for project assistance can find more details on the RTP page:

Public notices must be posted by September 30, 2025, and copies of notices with listings must be submitted to DPOR at Parks.RTPGrantApp@alaska.gov by this date.

Applications are due by October 31, 2025.
