NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO DISCONTINUE SERVICE
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on August 1, 2025, Alascom, Inc., d/b/a AT&T Alaska (AT&T Alaska) filed an application to discontinue intrastate interexchange long-distance service in Jim River Camp. AT&T Alaska states that the only customer has requested to disconnect and consented to the discontinuation of AT&T Alaska’s long distance service at Jim River Camp. In conjunction with its application, AT&T Alaska has filed a motion for expedited consideration seeking approval of its plan to discontinue service in Jim River Camp by October 31, 2025. Docket No. U-25-026 was opened to address this matter.
AS 42.05.261(a) provides that a public utility may not discontinue service unless, after notice and an opportunity for hearing, the Commission finds that the continued service is not required by the public convenience and necessity. A hearing may be scheduled by the Commission in a future order to allow interested persons to voice their support for or opposition to AT&T Alaska’s proposed discontinuation of service.
