Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: CHUGACHMIUT
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35620
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Approximately 2.43 miles northwest of Flat Island in Lower Cook Inlet, west of Nanwalek.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: SE 1/4 SE 1/4 of Section 30, Township 9 South, Range 16 West, Seward Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Applicant Chugachmiut is requesting issuance of a year-long land-use permit for the placement of a Spotter wave buoy to collect real-time wave spectrum data in the Lower Cook Inlet near Flat Island off the coast of Nanwalek beginning in September, 2025. The wave buoy schematic describes a wave buoy attached to two surface floats with an anchor on the sea floor. The application lists a second site outside of state managed waters.

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above.
