Meeting of the Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development

The Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development will hold a special board meeting on Monday, July 1, 2025, virtually. Public participation for the meeting will be through the digital platform Zoom. The board meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this meeting by joining online through the digital platform Zoom or by joining via phone. The board will take public comment on agenda and non-agenda items starting at approximately 3:05p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Oral comment is limited to three minutes per person and five minutes per group. Public comment may be made for this meeting during this time by joining the online Zoom meeting at https://education-alaska-gov.zoom.us/j/87907832961or by calling (833) 928-4609 (toll free) and selecting *9 on your phone’s keypad (Meeting ID 879 0783 2961. When public comment is over, the meeting will continue to be broadcast at the above website.

Please note that public testimony may extend for up to two hours. The Board may adjust the agenda as needed. This includes extending the oral hearing to accommodate individuals present at the start of the public testimony who have not yet had an opportunity to speak or closing the public comment period early and proceeding to the next agenda item if testimony concludes before the time period.

The purpose of the meeting is to hold a work session, business meeting, an executive session, and to hear public comment.

Topics at the work session include a presentation and request for Early Education Program Standards Regulation, Commissioner Update, FY26 Budget Update, Teacher Certification Update, and a Mt. Edgecumbe High School Superintendent Update.

Topics at the business meeting will include Early Education Program Standards Regulation, an Executive Session for an Attorney Consult, and Commissioner Evaluation, Consent Agenda for the State Board of Education minutes of June 3-4, 2025.

The board may amend its published agenda. Agenda times are estimates only, and the board may consider agenda items out of order without amending its agenda. The board also reserves the right to adjourn at a time earlier or later than estimated on the published agenda.
