PROJECT SUMMARY
Invasive weeds present a significant risk to the environment. Rapid response before populations can spread to new areas is an essential component of invasive species control. The use of herbicides is a primary tool in controlling invasive weeds. Anchorage Soil and Water Conservation District (ASWCD) is part of the Anchorage Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA), which coordinates management of invasive species within the Municipality of Anchorage. ASWCD also works cooperatively with the Kenai Peninsula CISMA, US Forest Service, and other land management organizations whose jurisdiction extends outside the MOA. ASWCD intends, under this general permit, (1) to treat invasive plants on public and private land within the boundaries of the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), (2) Prunus species in Hope in collaboration with central Kenai Peninsula CISMA staff; and (3) high-priority invasive plants in Whittier, which is outside the jurisdiction of any CISMA.   Herbicide will be applied only with permission from landowners.

The proposed herbicides include AquaMaster/Roundup Custom for Aquatic and Terrestrial Use (EPA Reg. #524-343), Cornerstone 5 Plus (EPA Reg. #1381-241), EZ-Ject Diamondback Herbicide Shells (EPA Reg. #83220-1), Garlon 4 Ultra (EPA Reg. #62719-527), Habitat (EPA Reg. #241-426-67690), Horsepower Selective Herbicide (EPA Reg. #228-313), Milestone (EPA Reg. #62719-519), and Transline (EPA Reg. #62719-259), which have been reviewed and approved under General Permit 25-GP-WEED.
