The City of Seward has applied for a Historic Preservation Fund – Certified Local Government grant

PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Seward has applied for a Historic Preservation Fund – Certified Local Government grant to improve Hoben Park.

This project will be conducted at Hoben Park in Seward, Alaska. The city previously conducted projects to restore Hoben Park's fountains and planters with HPF assistance. The goal of this project is to restore the park so that its history is acknowledged, for both locals and visitors.

Proposed actions include the following elements:

  1. Restore the concrete walls and iron fencing.
  2. Replant vegetation to complete final aesthetic details and encourage heritage tourism.
  3. Create a long-term maintenance plan that the city can be responsible for in collaboration with SHPC.

Comments concerning the proposed actions will be accepted from the affected public; local, state and federal agencies; and other interested parties in order to consider and evaluate alternatives and the environmental impacts of the proposed actions.

Comments should be made in writing, sent to the points of contact listed below, and postmarked within 20 days of publication of this notice.
